News follows Clean Label Project’s cat food investigation reported by CNN

LOUISVILLE, Colo., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Six cat kibble recipes from BIXBI Pet are now certified by the independent nonprofit Clean Label Project®, the company said today. The six recipes bring BIXBI’s Clean Label Project® Certified lineup to 19 dog and cat kibble recipes, two months after its first certifications for dog kibble.

The news comes days after Clean Label Project® released an investigation of 100 top-selling cat foods from 62 brands, reported exclusively by CNN on Oct. 2. Testing for more than 120 contaminants found lead in 99% of samples and arsenic in 94%, across wet, dry and freeze-dried formats, including foods marketed as natural or premium. BIXBI® Rawbble® Freeze-Dried Turkey cat food was among the products tested and received Clean Label Project’s highest purity rating. Because pet food brands aren’t required to report trace contaminants on packaging, owners have had little way to compare brands on this measure.

The certification reflects the BIXBI Better Standard™, the company’s framework for how it formulates, sources and tests its recipes.
